Ignatius Haskell built his family’s post-colonial home on Deer Isle in 1793, featuring clapboard siding and a gambrel roof. Nearly a century later, his descendants converted the house into a boarding house called The Ark. The family maintained the property until World War II. In 1975, new owners established Pilgrim’s Inn, and a few years later, it earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, the property operates as a 15-room seasonal inn and restaurant.

Pilgrim’s Inn is under new ownership for the 2025 season. We are honored to carry forward the legacy of this place while building on its reputation for exceptional customer service.
