We can’t wait for this birding and art festival to return to Deer Isle! From guided hikes through nature preserves to boat trips to an art exhibit, this festival offers something for everyone’s interest. 2020 Festival Details

The 2020 Wings, Waves & Woods Festival is set to take place from May 15-17, 2020. This weekend-long birding and art festival is sponsored by Island Heritage Trust, Deer Isle-Stonington Chamber of Commerce, and the Downeast Audubon Chapter. With the help of these sponsors and staff, attendees can register for just $35. This fee includes access to all of the events that the festival offers. If you’re only interested a couple of events, you can simply make a donation of $5 for each individual event. You can register before the festival or in-person at Island Hertiage Trust from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. the evening of Friday, May 15.

Birding and Art Events

The Wings, Waves & Woods Festival offers a great opportunity for both novice and experienced birders. Enjoy guided strolls along the Downeast Maine coast in search for a variety of birds. Boat trips provide opportunities to see great cormorants, Atlantic puffins, purple sandpipers, black guillemots, and many more! The weekend features more than just birding adventures, too. There are also a variety of other events scattered throughout the festival. These include an opening art reception featuring birds in their natural areas, art shows, expert-led bird walks, photography workshops, and more. This year’s keynote speaker is Jeff Wells, Vice President of the Boreal Conservation.
