What is Plein Air Painting?
Plein air painting is when an artist transports their easel and paintbrushes from a studio into the great outdoors. The name is derived from French terminology “en plein air,” an expression meaning “in open air.” This method of painting allows artists to encounter several different types of lighting and movement. It can be challenging, but the results are awe-inspiring.
